If your interests lie in
I unique antique furniture, primitives, pressed glass, china or early Americana textiles, Waynesboro’s ‘Seek No Further’ Antiques and Furniture is just the place. Robert and Twila Risser offer special heirlooms in their shop which is located at 39 E. Main St. in downtown Waynesboro. They believe that older furniture is more carefully crafted than today’s pieces and they travel from coast to coast searching for quality items. Each piece is carefully conditioned before offering it for sale.
Mr. Risser was first an employee and later the owner of Hi-Way Furniture Mart near Hager-
stown. In 1977, in order to spend more time with his growing family, he moved to this area where he employed his family on the farm. He later returned to his earlier work as ' a furniture technician. United, Mayflower and Allied Van Lines have all used his services to repair damage on items they have transported across the country. His travels of the many miles to service clients and to repair and condition their furniture, provide real opportunities for him and his wife to continue their search for timeless treasures along the way.
Unusual additions to their inventory are coverlets and blankets made from the wool of the Rissers’ own sheep. They travel to Prince Edward Island in Canada to have the wool scoured and spun into yarn, and woven into blankets. The blankets are 100% wool and Jacquard looms use five geometric patterns to make the wool coverlets that duplicate those used by our ancestors.
Robert was recently quoted by the Record Herald, as saying that he is glad to provide Waynesboro and the surrounding area with the selection offered at ‘Seek No Further’. He and his wife believe that people should have the opportunity' to buy better furniture for less and they want their customers to enjoy the savings. They invite both local and out-of-state shoppers, and dealers*. as well, to discover that they have to “seek no further”.
